Administrators rescued six rare white-lipped deer trapped on a snow-covered icy river in northwestern China.

The video, filmed in the city of Yushu in Qinghai Province on January 5, shows the deer, one of whom suffered injuries, trapped on the frozen river covered by thick snow.

Local administrators spotted the trapped deer during a patrol and risked their own lives to save the threatened species.

Several people were seen using ropes to pull the deer from the frozen river.

According to reports, the six deer dropped into the icy river when they were running away from wolves. Since the deer were not injured seriously, the administrators released them back into the wild.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
