This is the creepy moment hundreds of worms squiggled together in a lump like moving grey spaghetti.

The tiny worms were seen using the defensive tactic to fool predators in a forest in Costa Rica.

Hiker and insect enthusiast Taylor Steven Marin thought the slimy worms were a bigger insect, but it turns out they are only sticking together.

He said: “I took a closer look at it to find out what is. I was surprised they are just tiny worms crawling in a group.”

Worms usually form a cluster to travel and feed together as part of a single herd to make them look bigger and ward off potential predators such as birds and other insects.
