Defense Research and Development Organisation conducts test launch of Akash-New Generation missile in eastern India
The Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful maiden test launch of the Akash-NG missile from Integrated Test Range off the coast in eastern India's Odisha on January 25.
A video witnessing the incident features the missile getting launched into the sky during the daytime. As the countdown ends, the missile is set in motion, and it intercepts the target with utmost precision.
The DRDO conducted the successful maiden launch of the Akash-New Generation (NG) Missile. The Akash-NG will be a new generation surface-to-air missile, meant for the use by the Indian Air Force to intercept high manoeuvring low Radar Cross-Section (RCS) aerial threats.
During the test launch, the entire flight path of the missile was monitored, and the data was captured by various Range instruments such as Radar, the electro-optical targeting system (EOTS), and the telemetry systems deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur. The Multi-Function Radar was examined for its capability of integration with the system.
The test launch was carried out by a combined team of DRDO, Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in the presence of the representatives of the Indian Air Force. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the scientists for this achievement.
