A teacher was found dead after suffering a suspected electric shock while playing on her tablet as it charged.

English teacher Supana Add Taironrong, 48, was discovered after her neighbours noticed a foul smell coming from her house in Buriram, Thailand on Monday (Mar 1).

Police officers knocked on her front door but when she failed to answer they broke into the property. They followed the smell and were led to her bedroom where she was found lifeless in a state of decomposition.

Beside her was a charging tablet with burn marks next to a mobile phone that was also plugged in beside the device.

The fan in the bedroom was still spinning and appeared to be untouched since the teacher died.

Krisana Buapa, her cousin, said the woman was living alone after separating from her husband.

She said: ‘She lives with her dog and does not have children. She had been separated with her husband for a long time now.

‘She bought the tablet about a month ago to be entertained while she was alone in the house. She really loved it and would play on it every night, watching movies and playing games. It kept her company.’

Officers said that the woman could have died from electric shock as burn marks were found on the devices next to her and across her arm.

One of the officers said: ‘We believe she died from an electric shock. She was not found immediately because she lived alone. Forensic officers estimate she had been dead for three days.’

He added that Supana may have already been dead for three days before she was found judging from its level of decomposition.

Supana’s corpse will be sent at the Buriram Hospital for a post-mortem examination to check the injuries.

Police are still investigating the case and will question her close relatives and neighbours.
