An elderly Chinese woman put wool knitted covers along a stair handrail in a 7-storey residential building, to make residents feel warm when holding on them.

The video, filmed in the city of Dalian in Liaoning Province on March 21, shows colourful wool knitted covers on a handrail for seven flights of stairs.

According to reports, a 83-year-old elderly woman living in the residential building knitted the handrail cover.

She said there are many old people living in the building and they need to hold the handrail when climbing the stairs.

The metal handrail is cold in winter, so she came up with the idea to knit a wool cover for the handrail, to make residents feel warm when holding on it.

The elderly women knitted the wool covers and put them on the handrail in winter in 2019.

在大连市泡崖八区玉丽街39号楼，从一楼到七楼的楼梯把手都“穿着毛衣”，此番景象引发热议。记者辗转找到“织毛衣”的主人公，她是一位83岁的老人，老人称此举是希望邻居们上下楼把扶手时不会感到凉。采访中记者了解到老人心灵手巧，年轻时家人孩子的毛衣毛裤、外衣都是自己来做，老了仍然喜欢就地取材做些手工。
记者来到现场进行探访，这是一座楼龄20年的沿街居民楼，一共七层，没有电梯，从一楼到七楼，整个楼梯的把手均被不同图案的毛线织片包裹着。另外记者注意到房子虽然老旧，但是楼道内比较干净规整。
“是一位老阿姨做的，阿姨正是有心了。”住在顶楼的陈先生说到，顺着邻居们的指引，记者找到了为楼梯扶手“织毛衣”的主人公，她是住在该单元的83岁老人刘老太。

说起这番操作的初衷，老人说楼里住着不少老年人，在上楼下楼时需要把着扶手，但是冬天里铁把手摸着非常凉，想到自家还有些旧毛线，于是就萌生了想法。

老人的家人告诉记者，刘老太是在2019夏天开始织的，织上三五米就先绑上去，到了冬天就全给包裹上了。（视频由辽宁台提供）
