This is the terrifying moment a piece of metal flew up from the road and smashed into the windscreen of a car driving behind.

Katae and her husband Tam were travelling behind a pickup truck that ran over the piece of bodywork in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 24.

Dashcam footage shows how the metal flicked up and went spinning through the air before hitting Katae’s car on the windscreen.

The glass instantly shattered and the couple had to pull over to check the damage. The truck driver continued along the road and they do not know where the debris came from.

Katae said: ‘My daughter was in the car and she was shocked. She was scared and was crying. We don’t know if it was steel or aluminium, but it caused a lot of damage to our car windscreen. We called a repair service.’
