Loose wheel smashes through ambulance windscreen on emergency call
This is the terrifying moment a loose wheel smashed through an ambulance windscreen while it was on an emergency call in Thailand.
Paramedic Thanakrit Klaikaew, 36 was rushing from Ayutthaya province to the capital Bangkok to pick up a covid patient on July 31 when he saw the truck in front skid and lose control.
As Thanakrit turned to the side to pick up an item, the vehicle moved across the lane before a loose wheel flew out and smashed into Thanakrit’s ambulance windscreen.
The wheel’s impact triggered the release of the airbags inside the ambulance, leaving bruises on both of Thanakrit’s arms. The wheel then settled in the passenger seat.
Thanakrit said the remorseful truck driver pulled over and went to help him. They called their insurance company to pay for the damage caused.
The paramedic added: ‘I would have been dead if the wheel flew right where I was sitting. I’m a bit sad because I was looking forward to bringing the patients to the hospital.’
A second ambulance was dispatched to collect the patient suffering from the seasonal coronavirus in their home.
