Major fire breaks out at HPCL plant in southern India

A fire broke out in the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) plant in southern India's Andhra Pradesh on May 25. The incident took place in Malkapuram near Visakhapatnam.

A video features massive flames scaling from the plant in broad daylight. Following this, plumes of thick smoke emanating from the place begin to rise and envelop the entire sky. Meanwhile, some onlookers behold the occurrence from their roof while the others gather on the street. Moreover, all the workers evacuate the place while the fire tenders reach the spot.

A major fire broke out at an HPCL plant near Visakhapatnam Refinery Plant while huge flames and plumes of smoke kept billowing out of the unit. Following the incident, panic ensued among the workers, and they began to hurry their way out of the place while the sound of a siren indicating the danger echoed in the background. Around 10 laborers were present inside the plant when the flames began to erupt. However, all workers at the HPCL facility were moved to safety.

The blast was reported at the Unit-3 plant in HPCL, from where the blaze began to emanate. Around five fire tenders were present at the spot while the local administration tried to ascertain the cause of the incident. Furthermore, no casualties have been recorded so far.
