A man is fighting for his life after being knocked unconscious during an unprovoked attack. The 31-year-old is said to have a serious head injury and in a critical but stable condition after hitting his head on a concrete pavement.The violent attack outside Tesco Extra in Hall Street, in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, is said to have happened around 11.30pm last night (Sat).

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We’re appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in Birmingham last night. The 31-year-old was knocked unconscious in an unprovoked attack on Hall Street around 11.30pm. He has a serious head injury and is in hospital in a critical but stable condition. We are exploring CCTV in the area and have spoken to witnesses, but we believe there were more people who saw what happened and haven’t spoken to us. Officers are now urging anyone with information to contact them via Live Chat on their website or call 101 quoting log 4599 of 29/5".
