Emergency services close major road as cyclist is hit and killed in Birmingham, England
A man has died after he was hit by a vehicle whilst crossing a major road through Birmingham city centre.
Ambulance technicians, paramedics and doctors worked on the cyclist but he was declared dead at the scene on Tuesday 16 May 2023.
West Midlands Police closed both sides of Belgrave Middleway which is a 3-lane ring road through the city centre, causing traffic gridlock as specialist officers investigate the mans death.
Officers placed a blue forensic tent over the white bicycle and the victim.
West Midlands Police said at the time of the incident: "We are currently dealing with a serious collision on Belgrave Middleway between the junctions of Horton Square and Haden Circus.
"The road is closed in both directions whilst investigations take place.
"We are urging witnesses and people who may have dashcam footage to contact us via Live Chat on our website or call us on 101 quoting log number 2461 of 16 May."
