A live cricket was pulled from out of a woman's ear by a doctor in Dhamtari, central India.

The skin-crawling footage filmed on June 15 shows the insect being removed from the patient's ear.

When a woman informed the doctor that she had an itch in her ear, little did she know that the cause of her discomfort was an insect in central India's Chhattisgarh. The incident took place on June 15 in Dhamtari District Hospital in Dhamtari.

Visuals feature the frightful lady resting on the bed while the doctor ensures her well-being by soothing her down and asks her to stay still to avoid any injury. Following this, the doctor pulls the cricket out from the patient's ear using a pair of tweezers and carefully extracts it while a little blood oozes out.

It can be scary when you cannot stop scratching your ear, and the source of the itch turns out to be an animal that has wormed its way into your body without you knowing. Facing the same problem, Lalita Dhimar, from Jodhpur ward in Dhamtari went to the district hospital after experiencing discomfort in her left ear and a closer examination with a microscope soon revealed that a live cricket crawled in unnoticed when she was selling vegetables in the market and then buried itself into her ear canal.

Following her check-up, the operation theatre (OT) staff Mr. Ashwini Sahu, nurses Pilu and Sunita Sinha, orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Rakesh Soni, continued with the simple procedure, led by ear, nose, throat (ENT) specialist Dr. U.L. Kaushik, and removed the creepy-crawly from inside her ear. After the cricket got extracted, Lalita took a sigh of relief as the insect could possibly have done some damage to her inner ear.
