Footage shows cars being inspected at checkpoints around Bangkok today (July 8) as ministers considered proposals for a second lockdown following a rise in Covid-19 infections.

The stricter measures, which will be discussed at a meeting on Friday morning, include curfews, a ban on travel between different provinces and mandatory working from home.

Thailand on Thursday hit another record high with 7,058 Covid-19 infections and 75 deaths. Since the start of the third-wave outbreak in March 2020, Thailand has reported 279,367 infections and 2,462 deaths.
