A group of locals in Sinope, Turkey, managed to rescue a puppy by balancing on a wooden plank on top of debris floating on the sea.

The residents-turned-rescuers carefully held each other upright on the plank while the man at the end reached out to grab the dog that was stranded atop debris floating in the sea.

Emre Kilicaslan, the filmer, said: "My friends and I went to the seaside after the flood had entered Sinop, and saw a puppy sitting on the pieces of wood and garbage that came with the flood.

"One wrong move could have caused us to fall into the sea and drown, but we didn't want to leave the dog alone.

"So, we put a longboard under our feet, formed a human chain, and rescued the dog. Then, we washed it with clean water and fed it before delivering it to the nearest animal shelter."

This rescue was filmed on August 11.
