This adrenaline-filled video showcases the amazingly quick thinking and driving skills of an emergency responder.

On October 20, Chris Martin, Clinical Lead for an NHS Ambulance Service, was alerted to a 999 call in Hitchin in Hertfordshire, leading to the blue lights and sirens being switched on as he began on his route.

The dashcam footage from the ambulance shows him as he anticipates traffic, dodges vehicles and speeds down the small-town roads to his destination.

"The video highlights some of the challenges faced when responding through traffic on blue lights and the risk balance between safety and making progress to get to the emergency quickly," Chris explains.

"The hardest part is trying to maintain focus on the driving as you know that at the end of the journey there is a patient needing help."
