A Filipino artist took on the 365-day art challenge, sketching different portraits every day of the year 2021.

With seemingly random strokes, Qatar-based Arsenio Jr Nidoy, 43, scribbles away at his black-coloured canvas using a pen. The haphazard lines then converge and form the shape of his beloved pet dog named Bullet.

Other framed portraits of prominent figures like musician Bob Marley and boxing champion Manny Pacquiao can be seen hanging on Arsenio's walls. He said that the inspiration for the undertaking was his feeling of inadequacy with his art.

He said: 'I guess what really urged me to do this challenge is that I was unsatisfied with my art results. Though I already know how to draw since I was a child, I still needed a lot of improvement.'

Each portrait takes about three hours to complete, and impressively, Arsenio does away with line guides and pencil outlines altogether to improve his speed.

He added that the challenge has taught him the value of time management, as he strives to finish his sketches after his day job.

He said: 'I learned how to allocate my time wisely. Spending three hours per night when you are working during the day is quite exhausting. I realized that there is no such thing as ‘so difficult’ when you constantly practice.'
