54 Bundles of unclaimed cash found in Ana Sagar Lake of Ajmer in India
54 bundles of unclaimed cash in Rupees 2000 denomination were found floating by locals in Anasagar Lake in Ajmer City of Rajasthan on Friday (May 6). The total amount is more than about one crore rupees.
As per information, while some people were walking on the banks of the lake, they spotted the currency notes tied in bundles floating in the water and informed the police. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the bundles of cash from the Anasagar Lake.
Police officer Baldev Singh said that police reached the spot after receiving information regarding the floating cash in the waters. However, as the notes were wet, the exact amount of Rs 2000 notes discovered from the lake has not been calculated. As soon as the notes dry up, they will be counted. The notes had the Reserve Bank of India stamp on them. The notes were found tied inside a polythene bag. Police have launched an investigation to find out who threw the bundles of notes in the waters of Anasagar Lake.
Earlier in June last year, a bag filled with Rs 200 and Rs 500 notes was found at Ramprasad Ghat of Anasagar Lake in Ajmer. After some people learned about the incident, they dived into the water risking their lives to collect some money.
