An Indian tourist was arrested for allegedly robbing six currency exchange shops to pay for prostitutes in Bangkok.

Aman Siddiqui, 23, was said to have raided the money changers in one evening to bankroll his dreams of wild partying and sex in the Thai capital city.

CCTV footage shows him threatening a clerk with a handgun before she handed a thick wad of cash to him on May 26.

He then proceeded to target several more money exchange shops spanning different districts in Bangkok.

Police launched an investigation following the string of crime, and identified Aman through security camera videos and eyewitness accounts.

His one-week blowout in Southeast Asia - a short flight from the Subcontinent - ended prematurely when officers arrested him at an apartment complex in Thonburi District. He is accused of stealing 93,000 baht (2,850 USD) and at least six armed robberies.

Police Colonel Thammasak Saraboon, superintendent of the Bang Rak district station, said: ‘The investigation found that the suspect committed a total of six robberies — three under the jurisdiction of Yan Nawa Police Station, one in Wat Phraya Krai, and two in Bang Rak. He only succeeded in stealing money once, at a money exchange shop in the Bang Rak area.'

Aman initially denied the charges, but later confessed when police found in his room the same clothes he had worn during the attempted thefts.

Officers seized the remaining 50,000 baht (1,500 USD) of stolen cash and the red-and-black motorcycle he used as a getaway vehicle.

Aman claimed he had wanted to live the high life at the city's notorious nightlife venues but needed money to fund his debauched fantasies.

He was detained at the Bang Rak Police Station to face charges of nighttime robbery with firearms, using a vehicle to facilitate the crime, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and carrying firearms in public without permission.
