A plane’s faulty aircon left passengers sweating ‘like in a sauna’ in the Philippines.

Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific was flying from Zamboanga province to the capital city Manila when the incident happened on board the Airbus A320 on May 25.

The flight was said to have been delayed for at least two hours as passengers sat in the ‘sauna-like’ plane with temperatures sweltering. Outside it was more than 30 degrees Celsius.

Footage shows the hot passengers becoming agitated in their seats while waiting for the plane to take off.

Passenger Rowena Bałwan said: ‘Our flight was delayed by at least two hours and when we were boarded, the plane was like a sauna.

‘It was so hot. We were like that for more than 30 minutes. It was like an inferno.’

She added that the cabin crew were not able to explain the aircon issue but everyone on the flight was given free meals.

The plane arrived safely in Manila around 2:30 pm after taking off at around 12 pm from Zamboanga province.

Cebu Pacific has not issued a statement on the incident.
