This is the dramatic moment a brave pet cat slapped on a huge python on the nose to stop it from attacking - saving its own life and its siblings.

The courageous black moggie named Meena was perched on a shelf as she watched the deadly 10ft-long snake slither across the floor of the outhouse in Samut Prakan, Thailand, on May 16.

A second cat named Cha Cha was sitting on a slightly higher self while a third, Nam, was in front of the CCTV camera.

Sensing a large meal, the deadly beast slowly reared up poised to strike.

However, brave Meena made the first move and whacked the predator on the face - saving her own life as well as her feline siblings.

All hell then broke loose as the three cats scattered across the enclosure to cling to the safest and highest points.

The startled python was left reeling on the ground and even coiled around a can of cat food wrapped in a cloth that it mistook for one of the pets.

Owner Tunyaluck Chomchuen said: 'All of my cats were unharmed. I watched the security video and was amazed at how brave Meena was. She scared away the snake and saved her own life as well as the life of her brother and sister.'

Tunyaluck said the crestfallen snake left the cat house following the foiled attack. She only discovered what had happened after checking the CCTV to find out why the items had fallen on the ground.
