More than 50,000 Olive Ridley turtle eggs were found at a nesting site in south-eastern India, in what was described as a 'record-setting mass nesting'

The massive nesting site for the endangered reptiles is at the mouth of the Rushikulya river at the Bay of Bengal in Ganjam District, Odisha. Footage from June 1st shows one clutch of hundreds of hatchlings being released.

However, an estimated 20 percent of the eggs have been destroyed due to cyclones and other natural disasters this year.
