In a daring daylight robbery in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, a man looted ₹65,000 (£577) from a mobile shop after throwing red chilli powder into the shopkeeper’s eyes. The incident took place on April 30 at Ambedkar Chowk in Chandpur, right in front of a local police outpost, sparking panic in the area.

According to the victim, Suhail, who runs a mobile and money transfer shop in Mohalla Katkui, the assailant entered around 10:30 am asking for a mobile data recharge. As Suhail opened the drawer after the transaction, the man suddenly threw chilli powder in his eyes, grabbed ₹60,000 in bundled cash along with another ₹5,000 in loose notes, and fled the scene.

Despite Suhail's attempt to chase the thief, the culprit escaped. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. Senior police officials, including the Circle Officer and Station House Officer, inspected the scene and have launched an investigation.
