Hong Kong pro-democracy activists protest Chinese embassy in London on 33rd Anniversary of Tiananmen Square massacre
Hong Kong pro-democracy activists outside the Chinese embassy in London tussled with police and lay down in the road to protest the Chinese government on June 4th.
Activists were marking the 33rd anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre by pretending to be dead or crushed by a Chinese army tank.
As night fell, crowds of Hong Kongers attended a candlelit vigil as others waved Tibetan and pro-Hong Kong independence flags whilst shouting angry slogans in Cantonese.
Some activists deliberately tied the Chinese national flag upside down to a guard rail outside the embassy as others trod over portraits of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu on the pavement.
