Citizens of Hong Kong gathered in Victoria Square today (June 4) to remember the victims of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

A flame dubbed the "Torch of Democracy" was ignited to signify the ongoing struggle for civil liberties in China.

The crowd of more than 180,000 can be seen lighting candles.

The filmer explained: "On the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, Hong Kong put on its annual commemoration of the event.

"Here, the torch of democracy, symbolising the continued fight for labor rights, a free press, and individual freedoms, makes its way through the crowd of more than the predicted 150,000 people."
