Buddhist devotees carried a Chinese dragon along a river during a religious procession in Thailand.

Hundreds of the faithful gathered to witness the grand march of the Chao Pho Lak Mueang shrine in Samut Sakhon province on June 6.

Footage shows the celebration in full swing as residents banged on drums and gongs while lion and dragon dancers paraded on the streets.

A colourful fluvial parade was also later held, where boats donned in bright yellow and red flags plied across the river while carrying the Chinese dragon costumes.

Samut Sakhon is home to a large number of Thai-Chinese descendants. They are scattered across three districts and regularly carry out traditions honouring their heritage from China every year.
