A Bailey bridge collapsed after being battered by storms in Myanmar.

The structure, located near the Bhamo-Lwechat highway road, was destroyed when relentless downpours pounded Kachin State on June 29. Its construction was reportedly funded by truck drivers who used the route to make deliveries.

Footage shows the bridge slumped down after the rain eroded the ground at its approaches.

Repairs are now ongoing, and the new bridge is expected to be completed by July 10.

Myanmar and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
