Students on holiday go viral with emotional responses to exam results
A group of students have gone viral this week after they shared the emotional moment they collectively opened their exam results while on holiday – with social media users left in tears.
Alba Bau, 18, from Valencia, Spain, sat her selectivity tests in June, a series of tests which determines whether a student is allowed to study at university.
The tests are carried out over three days and can be the cause of intense pressure – with the student and her friends going on holiday to Malta as a treat to decompress.
During their trip, while on an excursion on the island of Comino on 17 June at 1 pm, the results arrived.
And the group's reaction has received over 8 million views on TikTok with social media users relating to the intense moment.
“We decided to separate [ourselves] so that each one of us had her space to see the notes quietly," Alba said.
"In the video, you can see how we are all quite upset, however we had not yet calculated our grade out of 14 [the total you can get] and we were crying from nerves.
Social media users were touched by the scene, as Alba later revealed she did not get enough points to enter a public university.
Alba took an independent exam in May, beating out nearly 950 other applicants to study at a private university and realise her dream of studying medicine.
Her friends also passed their exams and the group will all enter university together in September.
She added: "In this university there are 50 places and almost 1,000 people were doing the exam, but I was lucky and got a place.
"So in September I'll start my medical degree in English at this university.
“This means that no one failed the exam and we will all enter the university in September."
