This is the moment the Sangay volcano spewed out ash and volcanic gas in Ecuador.

Footage shows the volcano expelling a large cloud of smoke during an eruption on August 17.

The Geophysical Institute of the National Polytechnic School said the plume reached almost two miles above the crater and fell towards towns west of the peak.

Seven towns experienced ashfall in Chimborazo province, the agency reported. The eruptions have reportedly been ongoing since May 2019.
