A 19-storey landmark high-rise building has been demolished in eastern China.

Video filmed in the city of Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu Province on August 30 shows the high-rise building collapsing, sending smoke into the air after being demolished by 168 kilograms of explosives.

The dust suppression vehicles waiting on site conducted the dust removal treatment after the demolition and the traffic on nearby roads has returned back to normal.

The Dongdu High-rise Building was built in the 1990s. Since there was no central air conditioning in the building, and the internal facilities were outdated, thus the building was not suitable to be an office building anymore.

The area will become a green area temporarily before the building will be transferred according to the plan.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
