A penny-pinching passenger sold quail eggs and pork cracklings onboard a plane ‘to save on the cost of expensive flight ticket'.

Jay Gelacio carried packed quail eggs with salt and bags of savoury pork cracklings in his luggage for his flight to Tuguegarao province from Manila.

While boarding, the scrimping holidaymaker amused other travellers as he began offering them snacks for their one-hour trip.

Footage shows Jay discreetly hawking the appetizers along the aisle.

He said: ‘I was trying to break even with the money I spent buying the ticket. So I competed with the airline's expensive snacks.'

The plane vendor claimed he sold about three bags of pork rinds, and the small eggs were almost sold out and earned an amount that was enough for a meal.

He said: 'The income was enough for a nice meal. Most of my customers were my friends, and I used the money to treat them, so I don't know if I earned it. At least we're all happy.'

The passenger added it was a memorable experience and made the short flight fun.

He said: ‘I will never forget that flight. It was short but fun.'
