This is the heartwarming moment subway staff helped retrieve a phone that a passenger accidentally dropped under a train.

Julie Anne De Venecia and her friends were returning home when one of her mates let her device slip into the gap between the platform and the vehicle in Hong Kong.

The sliding glass doors closed, but two platform officers were there to help, waiting for the locomotive to stop on July 8.

When the doors opened and commuters stepped off, the workers immediately acted, with one of them using a grabber tool to reach the gadget from the side of the track.

They then handed the phone back to its owner after successfully retrieving it.

Julie Anne said: 'My friends and I were in a hurry because of our curfew at the time, but one of my friends dropped her phone because someone accidentally bumped her.

'The train staff asked us to write the name, item, and unit of the phone after they returned it to us.'
