A huge 10-foot python was given a CT scan after being found badly injured at the side of a road in Odisha.

The snake was found in Bargarh after it was attacked with blunt objects.

Snake Helpline volunteers rescued the snake and drove it to Bhubaneswar where Professor Indramani Nath examined it and found serious injuries in the head.

He said: "The snake has lost all its teeth in both jaws due to brutal beating. It was put on antibiotics and painkillers. After its condition improved we did a CT scan of the head to assess the exact damage."

Snake Helpline General Secretary Subhendu Mallik who is caring for the python, said: "After the snake's mouth heals, we can start feeding it. The recovery process is likely to take months. In 2017 another badly injured python took eight months to recover fully."
