A demonstration to reject the encroachment on Islamic sanctities took place in the Malian capital, Bamako, against people insulting Islamic sanctities on November 4. Someone this week trampled his foot on the Holy Qur’an, the holy book of Muslims, and filmed the infringement process and published it on social media, which led to anger around Muslims.

The demonstration was organized at the request of the Supreme Islamic Council. Tens of thousands of people took part in it.

– We held this demonstration in order to reject the encroachment on our Islamic sanctities. People came from everywhere in the country, as you know in Mali, 90% of the Malian people are Muslims. When someone comes and tramples on the Holy Qur’an, this is an unacceptable behavior, and whoever does that – wants to spread sedition among peoples, so we held this demonstration to put an end to these transgressions supported by external parties that want to fight Islam and Muslims.
