Dozens of locals still took trips to Florida's Delray Beach despite the incoming Tropical Storm Nicole.

Footage from November 9 shows residents strolling across the sand with some walking their dog. A few kite surfers were seen making the most of the rough waves and strong winds.

Palm Beach County issued a mandatory evacuation of the barrier island and nearby mobile home parks and low areas prone to flooding.

Nicole is set to strengthened into a hurricane as it makes landfall in Florida.

The water was very high in the Intracoastal Waterway, and road and property flooding was reported at several locations.
