Bride and groom jump off bridge into river still in their wedding outfits
A bride and groom celebrated their wedding by jumping off a 29-foot-high bridge dressed in their dress and suit.
Ryan Herron and his new wife Emily braved chilly temperatures when they visited Belton Bridge in West Glacier, Montana, USA, in early September.
Breath-taking footage shows the couple carefully clamber over the railings before standing on the edge of the bridge and count down to their leap.
Ryan, 29, and Emily, 28, then stepped off the ledge and seconds later were landing into the freezing cold water before swimming off to the dry riverbank.
Ryan said: “We were planning to go into Glacier National Park after our wedding for some photos and wanted to do something a bit more fun.
“We'd floated the idea a few times in the months leading up to the wedding and ended up finding a spot safe enough to make it work.
“We had spare clothes, but this was our real wedding attire - the wedding was a couple of days before.
“The river was very clean, and surprisingly the dress seemed to come out of the water cleaner than it went in.
“We met in college on the swim and dive team - Emily is a swimmer, I am a diver. We've been dating since the beginning of 2018.
“I am an experienced cliff jumper and springboard diver. Emily has jumped from similar heights before, and as a collegiate swimmer is extremely comfortable in and around water.
“We didn't tell anyone about this plan prior. There was some concern about the dress, a whole lot of surprise, but for the most part I think a lot of our friends felt it was pretty ‘on brand’ for the two of us.
“It was cold. The air was in the 40s Fahrenheit and the water temperature was even colder.
“I was relieved everything went according to plan. We're looking forward to having the picture hung up in our future home one day.
“We had a few safety plans in place because swimming in a wedding dress isn't the best idea, but happily did not have to use them.”
