Heartwarming moment disabled woman flies on parasail on Thai beach
This is the heartwarming moment a disabled woman flew on a parasail over a beach in Thailand.
Footage shows holidaymaker Vahen King from Alberta, Canada as she was lifted by the giant kite off the ground on her wheelchair in Phuket on December 2. Another clip showed her POV footage while gliding in the air with a staff.
At first, Vahen appeared unsure whether to really try the terrifying white-knuckle kiting activity until an attendant encouraged her, saying ‘safety 100 per cent, safety guarantee.'
She then answered: ‘He thinks it's safe to go so I think I'm going to go. Safety guarantee.'
Vahen, who was the first ever Miss Wheelchair Canada, visited the island destination with her husband Vaughan who was celebrating his birthday.
Vahen said: ‘Sometimes you just need to go for it. Don't let your imposed limitations hold you back from life-changing experiences. I did it.'
At least four guides assisted Vahen in safely buckling her wheelchair onto the kite's ropes, while one staff parasailed with her.
The excited tourist screamed as the kite flew higher, she could be heard saying in between gleeful shouts: ‘Oh my word this is amazing. I can't believe I'm doing this.'
The kite gave her a tour of the beach's stretch before they landed with the staff jumping off it first and helping her as she descended with the wheelchair.
Vahen gave her parasailing guide a high five as the young lad smiled while he helped unbuckle her form the kite.
At the end of the ride, husband Vaughan asked her how she felt and she answered: ‘It was amazing, sweetheart. I was up without any. I felt like it was effortless. I was afraid, but I was like, ‘you're okay, you're okay.'
Vahen added that she wanted to inspire others to go beyond their limits. She said: ‘I'm flying in so many ways, and you can too.
'Maybe not parasailing but what self-imposed limitations are holding you back? Go for it and you might just have a life-changing experience.'
