A pair of lions approached a car and stole the passengers’ drinks table and cloth while just two metres away from them.

Perry Nyama was leading a tour through South Luangwa National Park, Zambia, at the start of September when he and his guests stopped for drinks to enjoy the sunset.

Amazing footage shows two apex predators interrupted the so-called ‘sundowner’, forcing Perry into the vehicle to watch as the lions sniffed around their glasses and bottles.

Suddenly one of the lions grabs the corner of the table and runs off into the savannah with it, sending all of the crockery flying.

Perry said: “I have been a guide for five years not but this was the first time this had ever happened to me.

“I was just like ‘wow’. As it stands, it has been the best encounter of my whole year.

“I had two guests from the USA and we were enjoying a drink in the bush to celebrate the end of the day. Then I noticed the lions nearby.

“They were only about two metres away from us when they took the table. We were very safe though as we had managed to get into the car.

“One lion took a table and another one a tablecloth. I couldn’t do further filming as I was driving and making sure the guests were safe.

“Fortunately, we managed to get all our stuff back.”
