Five French tourists were grilled by police for freerunning across homes in Thailand.

The young lads, all aged from 25 to 30 years old, were climbing and jumping on roofs to film their stunts in Trang province on Sunday afternoon January 22.

Residents were confused about what the lads were doing and thought they were thieves as they reportedly did not ask for permission to go on the buildings.

Footage shows the officers stopping the tourists and ordering them to get down from one of the roofs.

One of the residents Wasan Mekchompoo, 73, said he had just returned home from work when he heard strange stomping sounds on his roof.

He said: ‘I found three men running and jumping on my rooftop while two others were filming them. I ran away, I didn't know who they were.

‘I thought they were friends of neighbours so I asked them but they didn't know who they were. They were running around for two hours, doing acrobatics.'

Wasan added he thought they were thieves so they asked the police for their safety.

He said: ‘I was relieved when I found out it was a sport. But if you really want to do it, you should ask permission form the owner of the house.'

The group reportedly ran across eight commercial and residential buildings with connecting rooftops. A patrol pickup arrived with three officers who checked on the incident.

Upon being apprehended, they explained to police they were filming a video of their tricks to be uploaded to social media. They then posed for selfies with the officer.

The cop said: ‘The villagers in the neighbourhood were afraid to talk to them. They told us what they were doing so we let them off with a warning.'
