Tourists waited on the top of Mount Tai despite shivering temperatures of -22 degrees Celsius to see the sunrise in eastern China.

Mount Tai is one of the five Sacred Mountains of China.

Video filmed in the city of Tai'an in Shandong Province on January 24 shows tourists in heavy jackets and wooly hats waiting for the sunrise on the mountain top as snow falls.

According to a tourist named Li, it normally only took around three or four hours to reach the top of Mount Tai but he climbed for around seven hours on that day due to the snow caused by the cold snap.

The Mount Tai Scenic Area issued a warning on January 24 to advise some tourists who have made a recent booking get a refund and make a new reservation for when after the cold snap ends.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
