Brave students helped chase away a monitor lizard that casually entered the office at a school.

Footage shows the beast stalking the building before a young lad scared the reptile with a flag pole as two other boys waited by the door in Ratchaburi province, Thailand on February 8.

In another clip, the youngster with the pole was seen standing on tables while guiding the creature out of the room.

However, the monitor lizard was amusingly walking very slowly while appearing bored despite the kids shouting at it.

Teacher Suteera Rungrojmahachai said: ‘The lizard invaded the admin office. The students volunteered to help and did it so well. We were there to guide them throughout.'

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
