A confused dog left her owners in hysterics as she couldn’t understand how a treadmill worked trying to stop the conveyor from moving backwards.

When Sydney Andress, 31, bought herself a new walking pad to use while working from home, she didn’t expect it to bring so much entertainment to her and her pet pooch Ellie.

Hilarious footage viewed more than 800,000 times captured the moment Boxer/Staffordshire first laid eye on the workout machine on March 5.

Confused by the treadmill’s direction, Ellie kept slipping off the back of the treadmill and despite attempting to walk backwards, eventually barked at the machine while her mum and dad laughed.

Sydney, from USA, said: “I could not breathe when she first started walking on it. We were crying we were laughing so hard.

“She did walk forwards, and I could tell she wanted it to go faster, that’s when she turned around and started doing this weird shuffle in the video.

“I work from home and wanted to add more activity in my day. I walk Ellie almost every day so she sees my shoes, and knows we’re about to do something.

“My husband turned the walking pad on, started testing it out and she just jumped on. We couldn’t get her to stop.

“She still jumps on it, and goes frontward, sideways and backwards on it like she’s been doing it her whole life.

“She’s pretty fearless, and we’re constantly getting her off of furniture anyways so this wasn’t too surprising. She walks behind me while I work now.”
