This dramatic footage captures the moment mudflow, originating from volcano Mount Semeru, gushes down its slopes as heavy rains hit Indonesia's East Java.

The mudflow flowed into the Leprak River and Besuk Kobokan river.

Local media reported that there were 21 eruptions and one tectonic earthquake recorded.

Lumajang BPBD Head Patria Dwi said: "If there is rain on Mount Semeru, it can cause lahar flooding. Communities are advised to stay 13 kilometres away from the peak, and 500 metres away from the sides of the river banks".
