A quick-thinking girl heroically saved her choking sister with a Heimlich manoeuvre in southern China.

The dramatic CCTV footage was filmed in Haikou City, Hainan Province, on August 22. A 3-year-old girl suddenly struggled to breathe as a piece of candy blocked her airway. Her older sister, 6, swiftly recalled the emergency technique and applied it, helping her sister expel the candy within just 30 seconds.

According to reports, the 3-year-old was eating a piece of rainbow candy when it became lodged in her airway, leaving her gasping for breath. In a moment of quick thinking, her 6-year-old sister sprang into action, performing the Heimlich manoeuvre, which she had learned earlier, and successfully dislodged the candy.

The children’s mother, who was washing clothes in the bathroom at the time, was unaware of the unfolding drama until she reviewed the surveillance footage afterwards.

After the emergency was averted, the older sister gently comforted her shaken sibling, calming her down. The mother, upon seeing the footage later, was overwhelmed with pride and gratitude.
