Shocked tourist sees truck with swastika painted on back in Thailand
A tourist was shocked when he saw a truck with a Nazi swastika painted on the back in Thailand.
The vehicle was carrying construction debris when it was seen hurtling along a road in the capital Bangkok last Thursday evening May 4. It then joined the motorway.
A black swastika on a white circle and red background was painted on the back - the emblem of the German socialist party responsible for slave labour, starting a world war, and the Holocaust.
The horrified passerby said: "I was surprised when I saw this and then angry. The owner should be aware of what the image represents, or somebody would almost certainly of told him. I tried to follow the truck to confront the driver but I lost sight of it."
Campaigners have previously complained about the lack of education in Asia around historical events, leaving many of the inhabitants in a state of ignorance.
In 2018, a love hotel in Thailand was decorated with murals of Hitler and swastikas while adult movies played on TV screens.
While in 2019, locals in SS uniforms posed in front of a Christmas display sponsored by Mastercard in Bangkok.
However, the swastika is a symbol of good luck and prosperity in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain countries such as Thailand, Nepal, and India.
