Display shark gives birth to 3 pups in Chinese restaurant
A restaurant in southern China was stunned when one display shark gave birth to three pups on May 6th.
Video filmed in the city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province shows diners witnessing a shark giving birth in a tank at a restaurant.
The restaurant's manager, Mr Zhu, revealed that the shark was originally bought as an ornamental fish and had been displayed in the front area of the restaurant for about two weeks.
According to Zhu, they had no intention of killing the shark and now that it has given birth, they plan to continue to care for it and the newborns.
To avoid the baby sharks being mistaken as prey by the mother shark, the restaurant has sought advice from professionals and has separated the newborns for feeding.
