Crane collapses onto train carriage killing one and injuring nine others in Taiwan
A crane arm collapsed and plunged onto a train carriage several hundred feet below killing at least one person and injuring nine others in Taiwan. The incident occurred today (May 10).
CCTV footage shows the tower crane boom suddenly snapping and plunging 30 storeys from a skyscraper in the Nantung District of Taichung city shortly after midday.
The steel crashed onto a train car and wounded at least nine passengers, local media reported.
A woman named Lin, 52, was also found "without vital signs" on the railway after the accident. She was later declared dead, the Taichung Fire Bureau said.
The city government said the tower crane was being removed from the building's 31st floor when it collapsed. The cause is still being investigated.
