A frantic driver chased after his rare vintage truck when it accelerated away without him.

Yuda Aminuraman was cleaning his Jeep CJ-7 with a cloth but the vehicle enthusiast turned the key starter for good measure in his garage in Jakarta, Indonesia.

But while Yuda only apparently wanted to heat up its engine, the old Jeep suddenly moved forward, leaving him rushing behind.

CCTV footage shows Yuda standing on the driver's side as he switched the key starter. He was then dragged as he struggled to turn it off.

He said: ‘Nobody can tell when a disaster might strike. I'll take it as a lesson that I should never ever start the car when I'm not in the driver's seat.'

His family heard him shouting and went out of the house to check on him.

The red vintage truck then smashed onto the wall of their home and came to a stop.

Yuda then entered the car and successfully turned the engine off. His arms had scratches and bruises from being pinned by the door when it hit a wall, but he was generally fine.

He said: ‘I'll make sure to put it in neutral all the time before turning it on. It's a big lesson for me.'
