Twenty newborn babies rescued after fire breaks out at hospital in northern India
A total of 20 newborn babies were rescued after fire broke out at the New Born Child Hospital in Vaishali colony in northern India's Delhi.
This incident happened on June 9.
Visuals showed the rescued newborn babies kept on sofas and tables in an area after they were rescued. Nurses and hospital staff were present at the spot. According to a report, the Department of Fire Services (DFS) rescued the newborn children and they were shifted to other hospitals.
"We received a call at 01.35 am that a fire broke out at a hospital. We sent four fire tenders first. They told us that there are 20 newborns there and they are facing difficulty as the lane is narrow. We sent about four more fire tenders. We reached there on time and the fire was extinguished. All the children were sent to different hospitals after being rescued. Nobody was injured. They didn't have a fire NOC, the hospital was just one floor. Further investigation will be done," Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Out of the 20, 13 were shifted to the Arya hospital and two each were sent to the Dwarka More Newborn Child Hospital and the JK Hospital Janakpuri. Three others were discharged by the hospital.
