Swift action by SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund) teams during heavy snowfall led to the safe rescue of hundreds of people. Vehicles and passengers were stranded at several locations in high-altitude areas due to severe snow. Coordinated efforts ensured timely evacuation and prevented any casualties.

These incidents took place in high-altitude areas of Nainital, Uttarkashi, and Tehri Garhwal districts in northern India's Uttarakhand on January 23.

Visuals show that SDRF rescue teams are carrying out operations amid very harsh conditions caused by heavy snowfall. Despite severe weather, they are rescuing hundreds of people who are stranded due to intense snow.

Speaking to Newslions, Vinit Vaibhav, SDRF Constable, Uttarakhand, stated that on the night of January 23, authorities received multiple reports of vehicles and passengers stranded due to heavy snowfall. The incidents were reported from high-altitude areas of Nainital Uttarkashi and Tehri Garhwal districts. Continuous snowfall had blocked roads and left travellers stuck in difficult conditions.

Following inputs received from Disaster Control Room Nainital and District Disaster Management Department, SDRF teams were immediately deployed. Swift rescue operations were launched in Ramgarh-Mukteshwar stretch and Dhanachuli Bend area. Several vehicles and passengers trapped under deep snow were evacuated safely. In Dhanachuli Bend snow was removed from the road using a JCB machine. This operation helped in clearing the route and allowed nearly 20-25 stranded vehicles to move to safer locations.

In a separate rescue effort SDRF team from Ghansali post responded to an emergency near Badiyar village on Mayali Road. Eight people who were stuck in snow along with their vehicle were rescued and brought safely to Ghansali. Officials said the group was returning from a wedding ceremony when they got trapped due to sudden snowfall.

Another major rescue was carried out by the SDRF headquarters team from Ujeli in Uttarkashi district. Around seventy five people stranded on Lambgaon motor road near Chaurangi area were evacuated. The team guided them through snowbound terrain and shifted them to secure locations.

Officials said SDRF teams conducted well coordinated and effective rescue operations at all reported locations. Despite harsh weather conditions every stranded individual was brought to safety. No injuries or loss of life were reported during any of the incidents. Authorities praised the timely response and dedication of rescue personnel, who worked continuously to ensure public safety during the snowfall emergency.
