In a catastrophic turn of events on the night of June 6, the Russian-occupied dam of Kakhovka in Ukraine collapsed, leading to widespread flooding and an ensuing ecological disaster. Numerous towns and villages were severely affected as the rushing waters inundated the region, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

The aftermath of the dam collapse has resulted in an alarming situation along the Black Sea shoreline. The debris from the collapsed dam, including building fragments, furniture, and displaced wildlife, has been carried by the currents and is now blanketing the coastline.

Video footage has emerged showing debris scattered along the shore in Odesa, around 325km away, seen on Friday (June 9).
