Russia has claimed that it has destroyed a Western-made Ukrainian tank with a guided missile fired from a Ka-52 attack helicopter in southern Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.

The footage purports to show the Russian attack helicopter firing its guided missile, with the images then apparently showing it hitting the Ukrainian tank.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Friday, June 9, along with a statement claiming: 'The main thing is to knock out tanks.

'Footage of the destruction of armoured vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the crews of reconnaissance and attack helicopters Ka-52 in the South-Donetsk direction.

'The crew of the helicopter, having found a moving Western-made tank of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, struck with a guided missile. As a result of the impact, the tank was destroyed along with the crew.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
